Prof. Dr. Yağmur Çerkez was born in Nicosia in 1986. She completed her undergraduate education, graduating as the top student from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance at Eastern Mediterranean University in 2007. After completing her master's degree in Applied Child Psychology at Kingston University in the United Kingdom in 2008, she finished her doctoral program in Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Near East University in 2014. She began her professional career as a lecturer at the Atatürk Teacher Academy during the 2008-2009 academic years and has been serving as a faculty member at the Atatürk Faculty of Education at Near East University since 2010. She served as the Vice Dean between 2018-2020 and as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education between 2020-2023. As of September 2023, she has been serving as the Dean. She has taught courses such as Guidance, Development and Learning, Group Guidance, Psychological Tests, Group Psychological Counseling, and Individual Psychological Counseling. In addition to contributing to book chapters, her research interests and publications include topics such as perfectionism in children and adolescents, communication skills of students in counseling, parenting attitudes, personality development of preschool children, and group work in teaching, which have also been the subjects of her master's and doctoral theses. Alongside her academic responsibilities, she has been an active member of the Cyprus Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association since 2011, holding positions on the board of directors.
