24 November Teachers’ Day Celebration Event and Panel was held

A celebration event and panel was organized by NEU Atatürk Faculty of Education within the scope of 24th November Teachers’ Day. The event started with the participation of the Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Dean of Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici, previous education and culture minister Prof. Dr. Mehmet Altınay, director and deputy director of Institute of Educational Sciences, lecturers and students and one minute’s silence and reading of the National Anthem. In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici stressed the meaning and importance of 24 November. Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici celebrated the day of all teachers and prospective teachers.

After the opening speech, previous Minister of National Education and Culture Prof. Dr. Mehmet Altinay, mentioned about the importance of life-long education.

Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici moderated the panel section of the event. The first speaker was the deputy director of the Institute of Educational Sciences. In her speech titled “Technology and Distance Education in Education”, Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay emphasized the importance of using technology in education and stated that the prevalence of distance education has been increasing in the recent years.

In the last section of the panel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mukaddes Sakallı Demirok gave a speech titled “Being a Special Education Teacher ”. She emphasized that all field and branch teachers should have knowledge and skills about educational interventions for individuals with special needs.

The panel ended after taking photos together.
